There is a lot of false information out there in regards to Nortel’s business telephone systems and how the acquisition by Avaya will affect the future support and use of these systems. To clarify, any claims that BCM systems are extinct and no longer supported are completely false.
Rest assured, Avaya has introduced a roadmap which ensures investment protection for all of the combined company’s products, innovations for the future and a view of how we’ll get from point A to point B in this process.
The long term goal is to converge the best of BCM systems into the Avaya IP Office platform. What you like about your BCM will stay the same: the telephone systems, features and Nortel interface will all be maintained while you get the added bonus of IP Office features and benefits.
To ensure the continued operation and support of your BCM system, it will need to be configured with a minimum software release and have a maintenance contract that will provide software support.
By having this maintenance and software support, you will receive any future software upgrades for free to enable your system to follow the migration path to integrate BCM to the Avaya IP Office suite.
You will be protecting your current investment for the long term with the added benefit of new innovations and technologies down the road.
